The penultimate round of the World Triathlon Series went down this past weekend in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and several Felt athletes scored some big results. Joanna Brown of Canada let the cheers of the home nation crowd fuel her throughout the race, taking a solid fourth place finish overall, and completing the bike leg in one of the fastest times in the Elite Women’s class. Fellow Felt athlete Ashleigh Gentle of Australia finished just outside the top ten after a chasing down some tough competition throughout the day.
In the men’s race, Andreas Schilling of Denmark took fifth place overall, and he also recorded the second-fastest bike leg of the entire event aboard his Felt AR.
"Montreal was the last chance before the Grand Final to earn points and improve my ranking in the world series," said Schilling. "After two 9th place finishes in the last two events, I wanted to test the others and make the race hard in the tough, rainy conditions.
"I had a solid swim right in the middle of the group and quite soon I found myself off the front on my own. I didn't feel like going solo for 35 kilometers, so I kept hoping for a couple of guys to jump across the gap. I was joined with 20 kilometers to go by the two Norwegians, and Paquet from Canada. It was the perfect scenario, as we pushed hard and managed to get a one-minute lead on the field before the run.
"On the run I focused on my own form and tried to hang on for a podium place. I couldn't quite make it, but I was really happy to cross the line in 5th place overall. I am really proud of both the result and especially my performance for the entire race. It is my best result this year, and I am now 9th in the series before the Grand Final in Gold Coast in three weeks."
The World Triathlon Series wraps up its 2018 season on September 12-16 along the Gold Coast of Australia.
