Every cyclocross racer dreams of competing in the sport’s spiritual homeland of Belgium. But few have the drive and tenacity to make it happen. One who does have that necessary grit and determination is American ’cross racer Kyle Johnson. The eighteen-year old from Albuquerque, New Mexico, has been racing on the national level since 2012 and the international level since 2019. And over the past decade, Kyle has landed himself on several UCI and National Championship podiums. Now, as an under-23 competitor, Kyle is on the hunt for results at the highest level of competition. He’s spending the winter in Belgium, chasing ’cross races and reveling in all that the wild and crazy world of Belgian cyclocross has to offer.

“There’s so much to love about cyclocross racing,” says Kyle. “The mud, the fans, the speed, and the technical side of racing all tickle my fancy. There is no other type of racing that compares to the technique and skill required to race at the top level, along with the fitness component.”
